    • Click on the Databases tab
    • Choose Hospitality from the Subject List

You will now see a list of databases related to the hospitality industry. The examples in this guide are from Hospitality & Tourism Complete, which covers scholarly research and industry news related to hospitality and tourism. For help choosing a database for a particular topic, ask to speak to a librarian.

Searching For Articles

Type your search terms in the search box. You may limit your results further after you run your initial search. For more assistance with advanced search options, Ask a Rosen Librarian for help.

Searching for "hospitality industry" AND (employ* or personnel)

Search Tips:

  • Different word endings: Use an asterisk (*) at the end of the root of the word to find all variants. For example, employ* will search for employee, employees, employment, etc.
  • Grouping similar concepts: Connect synonyms on the same line with the word "OR." For example, retention OR turnover.
  • Phrases: Enclose terms in "quotation marks" to search for exact phrases. For example, "hospitality industry" or "music festival."
  • Limiting results: For more specific searching, you can look for terms in a particular field (author, title, journal name, etc.) or use the operators AND, OR, NOT to narrow or broaden your search.

Understanding Results

The results of a search will provide information for each item, including:

  • Citation (title, author(s), journal, date, etc.)
  • Full text link or other options for locating the full text
