Tim is the Head Librarian at the Universal Orlando Foundation Library at Rosen College, also known as the Rosen Library. He oversees all aspects of the Rosen Library, including administration, reference, library instruction, collection development, website design, marketing, circulation, and more.

Tim holds a Master’s of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Wartburg College. Prior to coming to UCF, he worked as the Public Services Librarian at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, PA, and served two summer internships at the National Baseball Library & Archive in Cooperstown, NY.

What are your main job responsibilities?

I oversee all aspects of the Rosen Library, which means leading a team of librarians and library assistants in the provision of services and resources at a small, branch library. My duties include administration, reference, library instruction, collection development, website design, marketing, and more. Or, in layman’s terms: leading people and managing equipment, answering questions, teaching people about research, ordering books and videos and online materials, making information easy to find online, telling our story, and more. 🙂

What is your favorite part of working at the library?

I love working at the intersection of people, information, and technology.  It guarantees that every day will be different and interesting!

What does working at a library mean to you?

It means working in a wonderful place, doing things I love, for not a lot of money. 🙂

Which four individuals, living or dead, would you like to eat dinner with the most?

I’d settle for two — my wife and my father — who never got to meet. 🙁

What is your favorite book?

Dozens of books have had a profound impact on my life, but I’ll choose _Word Freak: Heartbreak, Triumph, Genius, and Obsession in the World of Competitive Scrabble Players_, by Stefan Fatsis, which led me to the competitive Scrabble scene, where all my weird interests merge in a beautiful world of words, competition, and camaraderie.
