Grad Student Thesis & Dissertation Writers: OPPORTUNITY

The College of Graduate Studies, University Writing Center (UWC), and UCF Libraries announce the

Research and Writing Workshop for Graduate Students

University Librarians & UWC Consultants will help each graduate student answer questions about research and citations, set writing goals, and offer feedback

Dates: May 9-10, 2011

If you are selected to participate in this workshop, you will receive:

  • Specific advice tailored to your writing and research needs, including
    • Assistance from University librarians who will show you how to research and locate sources related to your research question
    • Answers to questions concerning style, grammar, and citations from UWC graduate writing consultants
    • Guidance about formatting your thesis or dissertation from a representative of the UCF Graduate School
  • Advice for graduate student writers from Dr. Melody Bowden, Director of the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning
  • Time devoted to writing in a supportive, comfortable environment
  • Access to informative break-out sessions, including learning how to . . .
    • Search library databases more efficiently and effectively
    • Apply useful library research to your discipline
    • Use citation management software, such as RefWorks and Endnote
    • Write a literature review
    • Continuing support! Begin UWC-led peer review meetings with other students and continue peer review sessions next term

...AND snacks, computers, quiet writing space, and dedicated time for you to write.... AND a selection of prizes from the UCF Information Fluency Office and community groups.
