ISO Quiet Study Space

If studying for your finals in peaceful solitude sounds like your version of bliss then look no further than the 4th or 5th floors of the John C. Hitt Library.

As designated quiet zones, you’ll be able concentrate on your studies in silence. Well, mostly silent. Because construction.

Check out this video with Renee Montgomery for a closer look at the 4th and 5th floors.

PS – make any floor a quiet floor with free earplugs at the Circulation desk!

UCF Libraries Bookshelf: Staff Favorites

For the month of December, the UCF Libraries Bookshelf is celebrating the favorite books and series of the employees of the UCF Libraries. These are the books we have (and will continue to) read many times over the course of our lives. They cross genres from mystery, science fiction, young adult and memoirs. These are our well-loved books and we are thrilled to share them with you.

“I am thankful…”

Last week, as the UCF community prepared to celebrate Thanksgiving,a white easel placed near the entrance to the John C. Hitt Library displayed the phrase, “I am thankful…”. Yellow post-it notes and pens were available for passers-by to respond and add their thoughts. Over 100 sticky notes with messages of thankfulness were received and displayed. “Family” or family members received the largest response.”Family and friends” or “my parents” were typical responses. Many respondents were thankful for UCF, and many were thankful for someone they named on the post-it note. “Food” received some interesting reponses: “gobble ’til you wobble”. There were words of advice as well: “If you’re pre-med, be thankful Nursing is an option”. Everyone at the library is thankful for UCF’s amazing student body, faculty, and staff.

Short Cuts: From the Ground Up

Where can you find giant maps, study space, and books for days?

The first floor, of course! No, not the floor with the coffee shop. The one beneath that.

Take the stairs or the elevator and visit the first floor of the John C. Hitt Library. Follow Carrie Moran in this quick tour of the place that the government documents department calls home.
