Emergency Maintenance - 5/20/2012 - Library websites will be down

Please be advised Computer Services & Telecommunications (CS&T) and UCF Physical Plant need to power down portions of the University's Data Center located in the College of Sciences building (CSB) this Sunday May 20. This is necessary to perform emergency power work to replace electric power equipment. The outage will start at 6:00am and is expected to last for 12 hours. CSB server rooms need to be shut down during this period and as a result several core applications and network services will be temporarily unavailable or have limited functionality. Please note that the entire UCF campus will be affected by the temporary down time.

The following applications will not be available for use:

* The Active Directory domain

* All hosted servers and VM services supported by CS&T

*All Library Servers. Ezproxy, Network Printing and possible internet outages for public machines.

* Enterprise PeopleSoft systems including myUCF

* Netbackup Services

* Webcourses

* View Star


* Unified messaging for CS&T Exchange users

The following e-mail services will be down and unable to process incoming and outgoing mail during the outage:

* Exchange

* PureMessage for Edge protection

Some e-mail systems may store any incoming mail during the outage for redelivery, but CS&T strongly advises that you check that any critical/expected e-mails have been resent to your Inbox after all systems have resumed normal operation. In addition, SMTP services including the new Microsoft SMTP service ( will also be down during the outage. These include e-mail relaying and processing of outgoing mail. Knights E-mail will not be affected by the outage, but users will not be able to create new accounts temporarily.

The following systems are expected to be available during the maintenance period:

* 911

* Core network


* Internet access

* IP Phones

* Systems supporting life safety

* UCF 1 Domain controller for DNS

* VOIP phone service

* Wireless

Computer systems outside of limited network services systems will be down during the maintenance period. For status updates during the power outage, please contact the UCF Service Desk at 407-823-5117. Our Service Desk will be taking calls during this maintenance period.
