United States Census
1830-1880 Population Schedules, Florida [Microfilm HA312.A23] list individual names for each household in Florida from the decennial censuses, 1830-1880. Name indexes are available for 1830, 1840, & 1850 in the UCF Library Reference Collection [REF F310.J3].
Some historic statistical data is available in the UCF Library for all decennial census years, 1790 to the present. The statistical data does not list the names of individuals and is mostly at the national and state level.
UCF Government Resources include:
U.S. Serial Set (1789- ) provides the names of recipients of private relief and related Congressional actions, such as petitions for remission of duties, pensions to widows, granting of relief, etc. Another important source for names, where many thousands appear that have not been indexed individually, are lists of land claimants, soldiers, impressed sailors, pensioners, voters or signers of petitions, indexed under the term "list".
Index of Patents (1842- ) provides a list of patents registered in a particular year, arranged by subject of invention and name of patentee. From 1842-1871, claims descriptions, and illustrations are also included. Information is available at UCF in microfilm (1842-1973), paper (1927-1996) and electronic (1976- ). See also the U.S. Serial Set for the Annual Reports from the Commissioner of Patents which usually included a list of patents and patentees.

Florida History Resources identifies resources in the UCF Library and on the Internet about Florida history.
Florida Microform Sets are mainly about Orange County, Florida, including some legal records and tax rolls. Most are not indexed nor do they have guides, except for an occasional guide on the microform itself. The time period covered by these sets ranges from 1576 to 1968; most of the information is from the 1800's.
Florida Newspapers identifies online and microfilm resources, including the full text of the Tampa Tribune (1895-1951) and the index for the Florida Times-Union (1899-1925, 1929, 1938-1968).
Microfilm is available in the UCF Library on the 3rd floor for several Florida newspapers from the 1800s and early 1900s. The newspapers are grouped together on reels labeled "Florida newspapers miscellaneous", of which the UCF Library has reels 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18, 21, and 22. For most of the newpapers, only a few issues are available and in many cases only a single daily issue. Some individual titles have issues spread out over several reels.
Newspapers on Microfilm identifies the coverage of newspapers available in the UCF Library, including newspapers from California (1849-1983), Colorado (1859-1895), Washington, DC (1800-1869), Georgia (1868-1879, 1950- ), Illinois (1849- ), Kentucky (1830-1868), Louisiana (1802-1983), Massachusetts (1705-1882), Missouri (1808-1900), New York (1851- ), Pennsylvania (1719-1896), and South Carolina (1732-1901).
Microform Resources identifies microfilm and microfiche sets available in the UCF Library. The time period covered by these sets ranges from 1400 to the present.
Florida Heritage Collection is an ongoing cooperative project of the State University System (SUS) of Florida to digitize and provide online access to materials broadly representing Florida’s history, culture, arts, literature, sciences and social sciences. Thematic areas in this growing collection include Native American and minority populations, exploration and development, tourism, the natural environment, and regional interests.
Central Florida Memory is a cooperative project begun in 2002 by three institutions: The University of Central Florida Library, The Orange County Regional History Center, and The Orange County Library System. Some of the digital resources available include:

Cemetery Records
Florida Cemetery Index identifies over 12,000 names from 83 Florida cemeteries, including some cemeteries in Jackson, Leon, St. Johns, Seminole, Sumter, Volusia and Wakulla counties.
Florida Tombstone Transcription Project provides names from many cemeteries throughout Florida.

Other Resources
Alachua County Archives Ancient Records provides marriage records (1837-1973), probate records, plat books, etc. Alachua County in 1830 stretched from the Georgia border down the Gulf coast through Tampa to Ft. Myers and included Citrus, Levy and Marion counties.
Indian River County - City Directories 1883-1935 (Scattered years.)
WPA Life Histories from Florida are mostly first-person accounts of life in Florida collected during the Great Depression.
Orange County Library System (OCLS)
The Orlando Public Library Genealogy Department, at 101 East Central Boulevard in downtown Orlando, houses one of the best genealogical collections in the Southeast. The collection includes microfilms of all available U.S. Federal Census from 1790 to 1930, printed census indexes, and immigration indexes for Baltimore, Boston, Galveston, New Orleans, New York, & Philadelphia. The print collection includes more than 25,000 books and bound periodicals, covering most U.S. states and the British Isles.
Obituary Index (1949- ) - OCLS staff have created annual indexes of the obituaries appearing in the Orlando Sentinel.
The Orange County Library System subscribes to two online services with genealogy information that can be accessed in all OCLS branch libraries. The nearest OCLS branch to the UCF Orlando main campus is the Alafaya Branch, 12000 E. Colonial Dr. Directions: from the corner of University & Alafaya, drive south on Alafaya Trail approximately 2.2 miles; turn left on Colonial Dr/State Road 50 and drive 0.3 miles to the next traffic light. Turn right on Sophie Blvd and then turn left into the library's parking lot.
Ancestry Library Edition is a genealogy subscription service providing access to many fully searchable databases "containing information on hundreds of millions of individuals." A list of the databases is available online, but full access will require a visit to an OCLS branch library.
The Orange County Library System also provides remote access for users with a valid OCLS library card to HeritageQuest Online, a genealogy database that contains U.S. Census images from 1790 through 1930. The database also includes searchable text of more than 25,000 genealogy books.
Central Brevard Public Library & Reference Center (Cocoa) provides a substantial genealogy collection on the second floor adjacent to the Federal Documents Collection. The genealogy collection includes over 3,000 volumes, numerous periodicals, approximately 400 CD-ROMS, microfilm and fiche, a subscription to the AncestryPlus database which provides free access to all the Federal Census from 1790-1930, all the old newspapers for Brevard County, the Florida Vital Records Indexes and many other sources.
Family History Centers (Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints) provide access via computer or microfiche to vast genealogical resources. Some local offices (hours vary):

The Central Florida Area Resource Guide for Genealogists describes other local resources, including the Alma Clyde Field Library of Florida History (Cocoa) and genealogical holdings of public libraries in Casselberry, DeLand, Kissimmee, and Winter Park.

Social Security Death Index (Ancestry.com) is generated from the U.S. Social Security Administrations Death Master File. It contains the records of deceased persons who possessed Social Security numbers and whose death had been reported to the SSA. In most cases a report of death was made in connection with Social Security death benefits. [NOTE: The full record requires subscription access -- See OCLS above.]
Obits Archive searches obituaries and death notices from over 500 newspapers in the United States. NOTE: There is a charge for the full text online, but ask at UCF Library's Reference Desk about possible alternate sources for the full text.
Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild provides online passenger lists.
Federal Land Patent Records (currently unavailable) provides access to the initial transfer of land titles from the Federal government to individuals between 1820 and 1908.
