Citation Management Tools

UCF Libraries offers two citation management programs to the UCF community, EndNote and RefWorks. Both tools assist researchers with collecting & organizing their citations, are embedded into UCF’s databases and journals services, and can integrate with Microsoft Word.

If you have any trouble with RefWorks or EndNote, please contact Renee Cole Montgomery.

Tool Benefits

The ability to collect & organize citations: Gather citations with the click of a button from online sources like library catalogs, electronic databases, and Google Scholar, or enter citations manually. Organize your citations for multiple projects, search your citations for a particular author or title and display your citations in a variety of style formats.

Access citations online: Access your citations online from anywhere by logging in to your Refworks or EndNote Web account. Link to online articles directly from your citations.

Create Bibliographies and Format In-Text Citations: Insert properly formatted in-text citations as you type as well as automatically create bibliographies using your discipline’s citation style.

RefWorks and EndNote workshops are offered at the Graduate Student Center (CNH 146) and John C. Hitt Library and are open to all university faculty, staff and students.

Alternative Tools

  • Mendeley is another citation management tool that allows you to organize and manage citations and PDFs from your desktop or the web. Setting up a free account provides 2 GB of web space and includes plugins for Word or OpenOffice. For questions about Mendeley (guide is coming soon), contact Corinne Bishop.

University Writing Center

The University Writing Center offers free individual and small-group consultations to UCF students, faculty, staff, and community members for any writing you do.  Locations include Colbourn Hall, John C. Hitt  Library, Rosen Library, and select branch campuses.  Students may also meet with tutors through video calls using Adobe Connect.
