The UCF Libraries requests $63,522.58 for a project to replace high-use VHS with DVD. The Libraries owns a rich, relevant, and frequently used collection of educational videos on VHS. VHS titles are often selected for in-class viewing. Example titles and usage from 2007 to present include:
For many years the Libraries received funding for technology purchases from the Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA), the organization that also supports the library management system (catalog, circulation, etc.) for the state universities in Florida. FCLA ceased to exist in June 2012 and a new organization, the Florida Virtual Campus, now includes both state university and college libraries under its umbrella. Funding for technology purchases is no longer available. There are no other funds to support technology purchases so technology fee awards have become the Libraries’ single source for student-facing technology funding.
