The Strategic Planning Council Records contains surveys, analyses, and reports chronicling the work of the Strategic Planning Council in 1991. Ranging from 1987-1992, the collection documents the Strategic Planning Council of UCF in assessing areas of the university that need improvement and its collection of reports explaining how to act upon these areas throughout the next decade. Historical Note

The Strategic Planning Council is a reporting committee of the Faculty Senate and provides recommendations to the University President on all strategic planning issues, including academic planning, institutional effectiveness, accountability, budget planning, and student services.

Collection Scope and Content

This collection is arranged into two separate series by function.

Series I: Survey and Analysis, 1987-1991 consists of materials used to survey the students, staff, and faculty of UCF in order to assess and determine the goals for the university in the next decade. Also included are collected analyses of the information.

Series II: Report, 1992 contains three reports responding to the information gathered by the Strategic Planning Council. These three reports were submitted by the Library, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Engineering.

This series contains materials pertaining to the Strategic Planning Council, its purpose, and its method for gathering information. Included in the series is information on the Institutional Goals Inventory, a tool used by the Strategic Planning Council to survey and analyze its goals for the future. The series also consists of analysis of the gathered information in regards to University goals and values, the potential for new facilities downtown, the effectiveness of specific University departments or services, and international education.

Within this series are three reports submitted as a response to the Strategic Planning Councils gathered information. Each report is written by a large department within the UCF Community. These three departments are the Library, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Engineering. The reports analyze these institution's own weaknesses and strengths, propose future goals, and recommend strategies to reach them.
