The materials were transferred to the University Archives by the University Marketing Office in 2005 and 2006.
Any deteriorating paper clips were removed and replaced with plastic clips. Newspaper and magazine clippings were consolidated into one folder. All materials were rehoused in acid-free folders and boxes. Duplicates and post-it notes were removed. Some materials of interest but not archival were moved to the vertical file.
The collection is open for research.

The University Marketing Office is one of five units that operates under the University Relations department. A client-based service that operates for both the administration and colleges on campus, the University Marketing Office is responsible for the marketing of the university both to potential students and to the general public. The University Marketing office strives to consolidate all of the university marketing under its umbrella so that the integrity of the university logo can be properly promoted and preserved.
The records are arranged in two series. Placement of materials into either series is determined by whether the advertising was on or off campus.
The records are arranged in two series. Series I: Campus Marketing, 1966-2006 holds materials that were produced primarily about or for the university at large. This series is the largest and holds many different types of materials ranging from small pamphlets to calendars and large booklets.
Series II: Off Campus Marketing, 1968-1979, 2000-2005 holds materials that were created for off-campus advertising and news reporting. Programs for music and art events make up a large portion of this series as well as magazines and newspaper clippings.
Series I contains a variety of marketing materials that include small pamphlets, stickers, postcards, glossy booklets, fact books, calendars, and flyers. Some items of interest are postcards that were created by the Marketing office for the campus that warns about the improper use of the university seal, a final draft of a UCF Research report booklet that has handwritten editorial marks, and little booklets made to mimic passports that encourage students to take classes for a semester in another country. A hardbound book can be found in this series that promotes the creation of an arts complex in Central Florida. Other materials include quick fact books that explain to the media how the university should be referred to and identified.
Series II contains advertising materials that were created for off campus publications. The largest grouping of materials for this series are arts and entertainment event programs that advertise primarily for the Music, Theater, and Art departments. News articles in this series were collected by Joann Griggs, writer for the University Marketing Department. A few of the articles focus on campus life and the 1973 Nixon visit while the majority highlights the FTU/UCF police force. Also of interest is a brochure featuring two pages about the university in Mike Thomas's book, Orlando: Sunshine Sonata.
