Deluxe Books
Deluxe books are created in the style of the star artist. They are often more modern versions of the livre de luxe, luxury books. Luxury books were mostly hand painted by such masters as Picasso, Mastisse, Miro, Chagall. The problem with luxury books is that they are very rare and prohibitively expensive. While still marked by their high-cost collectability, deluxe books do use more modern printing techniques, often lithography, to allow for longer editions.
Deluxe books pay close attention to their vivid imagery that separates them from fine press books. This imagery plays an equally, if sometimes not more, important role in the overall book as the text does. Deluxe refers to the high quality materials used in the production process to stimulate the pleasures of sight and touch and sometimes even smell.
