Literature Reviewing

Ven Basco

Conducting a comprehensive literature review is a key element of scholarly communication. When conducting your review, take advantage of library resources such as the library catalog and subscription databases as well as free online search engines like Google Scholar. To keep up to date with the literature in your field, many of our databases offer alert services that will automatically look for new content that matches your search criteria. Visit our research guide to learn how to set up a search alert in databases such as Cambridge Scientific Abstracts, EBSCOhost, ProQuest, and ScienceDirect.

Note that any UCF Faculty member submitting a resesarch proposal is now required to screen their submission through iThenticate. See the ORC Memorandum regarding this mandate. To learn more about iThenticate please visit the ORC Responsible Conduct of Research page.

Our librarians are happy to guide you to key resources available for your specific discipline as well as offer suggestions on how to use advanced search strategies. If you need guidance regarding your literature review, consider requesting a research consultation with your subject area liaison. A consultation consists of a one-on-one appointment with a librarian for extensive, in-depth research assistance. We match our appointment requests with librarians who have expertise in your academic discipline.
