Library Instruction & Information Literacy

In order to excel in the Rosen College of Hospitality Management curriculum and to succeed in later career opportunities, we believe that every Rosen College student should acquire a core set of information literacy competencies.

We define information literacy as:

  • the set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyze,
  • and use information effectively and ethically

However, helping college students to become truly information literate in today’s increasingly complex and information-rich world is a goal that requires collaboration among members of the higher education community.

Library Instruction
Whether you teach a hospitality management or a general education course, we can help familiarize your students with the skills and resources they will need to conduct their research and to acquire basic information literacy skills.

Simply fill out our Library Instruction Request Form and we'll be in touch about the best instructional option for your class.  In most cases, we suggest either a graded Research Tutorial or a face-to-face instruction session.

In addition to taking advantage of the formal library instruction we offer, you can encourage students to seek out reference assistance, to inquire about retrieving materials from other libraries, or to attend special student workshops offered by the library staff.

By working together, we can ensure that Rosen College students have the necessary technological and analytical skills to compete in today's competitive hospitality industry.
