Research

Library Catalog - The catalog is available from the library homepage and provides access to our broad collection of books, ebooks, journals, DVDs, and other materials.

Databases - Our homepage provides access to hundreds of databases, culling information from thousands of journals, magazines, newspapers, and other sources. Some of the databases available to you include: Hospitality and Tourism Complete, Leisure Tourism Abstracts, Business Source Premier, ABI Inform, Hoover’s Online, S&P’s NetAdvantage, LexisNexis, Orlando Sentinel, Orlando Business Journal, and many more.

Research Guides and Tutorials - Our research guides, available both online and in print, cover the wide range of topics taught at the college. And our online tutorials can guide you through the entire research process, including finding books and articles, citing your sources, and more.

Research Help - Rosen librarians and staff members are available to help students in person, through email, by chat, and by phone through our Ask a Rosen Librarian page.

Reserve Items - Textbooks and other items placed on reserve by professors may be accessed at the front desk of the library. Most reserve items check out for two hours and must remain in the library.

Interlibrary Loan - Students may request books and articles not available at the Rosen library using Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Refer to the Rosen ILL Research Guide or ask for more information.

Technology

Computers/Laptops - The library has 36 desktop computers available on a first-come, first-served basis. We also have 12 laptops available for student checkout. Each offers access to the catalog, databases, internet, and software such as the Microsoft Office suite.

Portables - Digital cameras, portable camcorders, portable DVD/Blu-Ray players, calculators, and headphones are all available for checkout at the library’s front desk.

Printing/Copying -The library has two printers and two photocopiers. There is a $0.08 charge per page for printing, and a $0.10 charge per page for copying.

Scanners -The library has two scanners. Scanning is available at no cost.

Knight Cash Machine - Students may use the Knight Cash machine to check their balances or add funds (via cash or credit card) to their UCF cards.

Extras

Study Rooms - We have three small study rooms and one large group study room, available for reservation or on a first-come, first-served basis. A variety of study tables, carrels, and soft seating is also available throughout the library.

Lockers - Short-term lockers are available for student use. Keys may be checked out at the front desk of the library.

Popular Books - We offer for checkout a selection of current bestsellers, including both fiction and nonfiction books. New titles are added each month.

Career Resources - The library offers a wide selection of books covering topics such as resume building, networking, leadership, and time management. We also offer the Testing and Education Reference Center database, which allows students to take practice tests for graduate school entrance and licensing exams, search for appropriate scholarships, create better resumes, or learn about job searching, interviews, salaries, and negotiations.

Partnerships - We often partner with other UCF units to provide you with additional important resources and services, such as:

  • The University Writing Center (UWC) often offers writing consultations in a Rosen Library study room. More information can be found, and appointments can be made, on the UWC’s webpage.
  • Rosen College Accounting/Finance Tutoring, offered through the department of Hospitality Services, is currently available in the large Rosen Library study room. More information is available here.
  • The Student Government Association (SGA) sometimes provides the library with free scantrons (limited to one per student, per day) or other supplies for students.
  • We also partner with SGA to offer “Cram 4 Exams” events at the end of Spring and Fall semesters, featuring free food, school supplies, study sessions, and other goodies.
  • We occasionally provide space in the library for student workshops offered by the Office of Diversity Initiatives, Student Services, or other UCF departments.
