Today I'll first demonstrate finding a journal that exists in electronic
format, and then we're going to show you how to find a journal in the
traditional paper format, here in the UCF library. So to get back to the first
of our two questions: "Where do I look?"
Again starting on the UCF Library homepage, you'll see in the second section,
Journal Articles and Databases. The easiest way to
begin searching for journals articles is by clicking on this link that says
journal articles and databases, and you can see that the list has many different
subject areas; History, Mathematics. Today we are going to use the link that
says POPULAR DATABASES because that has articles
that cover a broad range of topics and it is very similar to what you are going
to find if you click on any of those other links. Click once on the link and
here are about five or six databases where you can find full text journal
articles on a variety of topics. I clicked on the second database choice,
ACADEMIC SEARCH ELITE.
Let's take a look at how different this looks from the pervious search we did in
the book catalog. The color is different, the boxes are arranged differently, it
still performs the same function. Get in the habit of looking at all the
contents of that window, you have so many options, so many choices, I'm
constantly being surprised by the new features that these article services
provide.
