Faculty Support: John C. Hitt Library Expansion Updates

The John C. Hitt Library has re-opened with limited in-person and virtual services for the fall semester. We wanted to update you on some new spaces and re-location on some services. We have a beautiful, new main entrance on the Student Union Plaza side. Once you enter you will find the new and bigger Circulation Desk. Our “legacy” entrance (near the reflecting pond) is still available too.

The LibTech Desk (originally on the third floor), is now located on the main floor at what used to be the Circulation Desk (right inside the legacy entrance). New this semester is an amazing new Reading Room on the 4th Floor with 270-degree views of the campus!

John C. Hitt hours for fall semester: Monday-Thursday, 8AM – 6PM; Friday, 8AM – 5PM; Saturday, 10AM – 6PM; Sunday, Noon – 6PM.

Faculty Support: What are persistent links and why should I use them?

Incorporating library resources such as streaming video, eBooks and journal articles into your course is a great way to lower the cost of course materials and create engaging content. Our extensive collections you can help you bring your subject to life through diverse perspectives and real-world examples.

Allow your students to access content with one link whether they are on or off campus by creating a persistent link.

Featured Bookshelf: Back to School

This unusual summer semester has ended and we’re prepping for fall. It’s only a few short weeks until the 2020-2021 academic year begins. It’s certainly going to be an interesting semester. Please remember to follow the Armour Up, Knights campaign to help keep the UCF community safe. Wear your mask, wash your hands, and try to keep 6 feet between yourself and others. By supporting each other, we can come through this stronger on the other side.

Libraries staff has pulled together a few suggestions that cover a whole range of areas including college success, cultural appropriation, investing, and football. Click on the link below to see the full list, descriptions, and catalog links for the featured Back-so-School titles suggested by UCF Library employees.

Welcome to the 2020-21 academic year!
