World Tourism Day is celebrated each year on September 27th. "Its purpose," says the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), "is to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value." This year's theme is Tourism — Linking Cultures, "a celebration of tourism’s role in linking together the cultures of the world through travel." For more information, visit the World Tourism Day 2011 site.
What better way to celebrate than by checking out some of our many tourism resources! Our Tourism Research Guide will point you in the right direction, or you can search the UCF Library Catalog for your favorite tourism subjects.
