An exhibition by Paul A. Houzell will be on display August 1 – 31, 2011 on the main floor of the University of Central Florida Library, Orlando East Campus and is free and open to the public.
Mr. Houzell’s art is inspired by the human figure striving to bring forth humanitarianism, spiritualism, education and healing. Operating from the spiritual, Mr. Houzell states that art is therapeutic providing a refuge from life's sometimes harsh realities. “As I paint I travel a journey inviting all to share therein. Depicted in my Native Spirit Series, The Bug's Eye View and My Contemporary Black Egyptians Series, I portray different perspectives of the familiar illustrating possibilities of things that could have been.” He remains a traditional realistic visual artist despite the changing trends in the art world. His art has been shown internationally, including Brazil and Africa. The body of work includes paintings of landscapes, plants, and fauna and consistently focuses on figurative art for the reason that the body is the best vehicle for communicating ideas that heal and lift human spirits.
