
On August 12, 1981, IBM introduced the Personal Computer, or PC, which also introduced the floppy disk to the world.
Actually, the disk was initially called a "diskette". Other terms that have disappeared into the mists of time include "minicomputer" and "home computer".
By the way, some of the first PCs were sold for $20,000.
How far we have come. I have to wonder how the Knowledge Commons would look and function equipped with these old machines.....
