The Metropolitan Center for Regional Studies (UCF) "serves as a link between campus and community in a regional approach that encompasses seven counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, and Volusia. We work in partnership with other institutions and organizations committed to a shared future that advances economic prosperity, social connectedness, natural resource protection and individual well being." The University Archives houses video/dvd copies of the "UCF Metro with Linda Chapin" television show (2001-present) which focuses on the partnership and leadership roles that UCF has undertaken as a way to strengthen the Central Florida community. The series also looks at UCF’s leadership roles in regional and state issues in the economy, workforce and education.

Access to Better Community Data (ABCD) The mission of this project is to provide easy Access to Better Community Data (ABCD) through a website on the University of Central Florida's Library web system, in partnership with the College of Health and Public Affairs Center for Community Partnerships. This site will strive to meet the following objectives:

  • Maintain a centralized website for easy access to timely and relevant information for the Central Florida community in the form of research, reports and data sets
  • Create an ongoing opportunity for exchange of relevant community information regarding data sources and data needs
  • Educate the community regarding availability of data and how to use data effectively and accurately through on-line "help" and community seminars.
  • Serve as a conduit for local datasets to the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR)

The UCF Government Documents Collection includes the Index to Current Urban Documents (ICUD) microfiche set through 1998. Organized by location, ICUD gives the user access to the thousands of periodic reports that were issued by approximately 500 selected US and Canadian urban area agencies and departments. The UCF Library does not currently subscribe to the online database.
