What does the Database Contain?
- "By law candidates and committees are required to disclose detailed financial
records of contributions received and expenditures made.
- For committees, the campaign finance database contains all contributions and
expenditures reported to the Florida Division of Elections since January 1,
1996.
- For candidates, the campaign finance database contains all contributions and
expenditures reported to the Division since the candidacy was announced, beginning
with the 1996 election."
Whose Records are Included?
"Included are campaign finance reports which have been filed
- by candidates for any multi-county office, with the exception of U.S. Senator
and U.S. Representative, and
- by organizations which receive contributions or make expenditures of more than
$500 in a calendar year to support or oppose any multi-county candidate, issue,
or party.
- Reports from local county or municipal candidates and committees are not included."

- "The PULSE tools use medians to compare candidate fund-raising totals.
A median figure describes the midpoint of fund-raising totals, with
an equal number of candidates raising more and less than that amount.
The closer winning and losing candidates' medians are to the overall
median, the more balanced the funds raised during the election cycle."

election cycles. It allows you to view data for all state candidates

District where the contract or grant was awarded. NOTE: The legislator listed for a specific
Congressional District was not necessarily in Congress when the money was appropriated or
spent.
a free, searchable database of Federal government spending on contracts and grants with
annual data beginning in fiscal year 2000.
"The Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 (Transparency Act)
requires a single searchable website, accessible by the public for free that includes
for each Federal award:
- The name of the entity receiving the award;
- The amount of the award;
- Information on the award including transaction type, funding agency, etc;
- The location of the entity receiving the award;
- A unique identifier of the entity receiving the award."

provides database-formatted campaign finance files for congressional & presidential
races (1996+).
- "data include election returns, socioeconomic summaries, and demographic measures
of the American public at unusually low levels of geographic aggregation.
- The NSF-supported ROAD project covers every state in the country from 1984 through
1990 (including some off-year elections).
- One collection of data sets includes every election at and above State House,
along with party registration and other variables, in each state for the roughly
170,000 precincts nationwide (about 60 times the number of counties).
- Another collection has added to these (roughly 30-40) political variables an
additional 3,725 variables merged from the 1990 U.S. Census for 47,327 aggregate
units (about 15 times the number of counties) about the size one or more cities
or towns.
- These units completely tile the U.S. landmass. This collection also includes
geographic boundary files so users can easily draw maps with these data."
