The University of Central Florida Libraries is proud to host the traveling exhibit, Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature, October 27 through December 10, 2004.

The exhibit uses the creature of Mary Shelley's nineteenth-century novel, Frankenstein, as well as Hollywood film versions of the story as touchstones for discussions about gothic literature, popular culture, diversity, science fiction, medical ethics, scientific  experimentation, and the nature of life.

The free exhibit is open to the public and will be on display in the lobby of the main library on the Orlando campus. Please use the links on this site to learn more about the  speakers, cinema series, displays, and student competitions in film, short story, and drama that are scheduled in conjunction with the exhibit. For more details about the exhibit itself, link to the American Library Association Frankenstein website.

Developed by the National Library of Medicine in collaboration with the American Library Association, the exhibit has been made possible by major grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Washington, D.C., and the National Library of Medicine. The traveling exhibition is based upon a major exhibition produced by the National Library of Medicine in 1997-1998.
