Policies for Exhibiting in the UCF Library
Thank you for your interest in displaying in the UCF Library. The following policies
have been developed to promote equitable access to the main floor display areas in the
UCF Library and to ensure that displays reflect the Library's overall commitment to
quality. Library exhibits will reflect the American Library Association's Library
Bill of Rights. Exhibits will be of artistic, educational and cultural interest.
Exhibit opportunities are available to students, faculty, staff and the general public.
Materials displayed do not necessarily reflect the viewpoint of the Library and/or
University. This policy applies to all exhibits in the Library.
- Library exhibits will be approved based upon satisfactory and timely completion
of the application.
Applications will be evaluated based on the content, originality, design, and
appropriateness of the exhibit. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing
basis by the Library's exhibit committee, which is appointed by the Library
Director. Photo/slides or digital images of examples of items to be displayed
must accompany the application.
- Exhibits must be of high-quality design and execution.
- No exhibit may display prices for sale.
- Any exhibit costs are the responsibility of the exhibitors including insurance,
if necessary. The Library is not responsible for items on display.
- Exhibits must include professional looking signs or labels. Signs or labels
indicating the name of the exhibitor or organization responsible for the exhibit
are also required.
- A specific day and time must be arranged for installation and removal of the
exhibit in order that a member of the staff is available.
- Exhibits must be removed on the specified day. The Library will not be
responsible for exhibits left after their display period has ended. Storage is
not
available for exhibit items not removed on time.
- The Library reserves the right, with proper notice, to reschedule any proposed
exhibit if it conflicts with the Library's need for the exhibit space.
- Exhibitors may repeat, but items displayed must not be exhibited again except
for materials owned by the Library.
- Requests for permanent or annually scheduled displays cannot be guaranteed.
- All materials displayed in cases must be inside the case.
- Exhibits in the CMC or in Special Collections are not necessarily governed by
these policies and procedures.
