Michael Arthur, Head of Acquisitions and Collection Services

  • Coordinates the libraries’ collection development policies and activities, sets collection priorities, evaluates the libraries’ collections and acquires library resources in all formats.
  • Provides leadership and directs the workflow of the department to accomplish its mission.
  • Manage library materials budget.
  • Manages all departmental operations including: hiring, training, and supervising professionals, para-professionals, and student assistants. This includes conducting performance reviews and purchasing print and non-print materials for the library.
  • Reviews and adjusts position descriptions, conducts specific workflow analyses, develops policies and makes changes to workflow as needed in order to ensure efficient operations.

Ying Zhang, Acquisitions Librarian

  • Supervisor of Acquisitions unit and Serials unit.
  • Participates in analyzing operations, develop, implement and update policies and procedures and ensure quality control of the monographic and serials unit.
  • Monitor acquisitions and fund balances, adjust monographic ordering to ensure efficient workflow and expenditure of state monies. Also maintains statistical and budget data.
  • Works closely with Cataloging Services department, Electronic resources Librarians and outside vendors to keep the monographic and serials workflow current.

Natasha White, Senior Library Technical Assistant

  • Serves as primary departmental contact for Acquisitions and Collection Services operations.
  • Performs various duties related to the procurement and support of electronic resources.
  • Develops updates and maintains a web presence for Acquisitions and Collection Services department.
  • Assists Department Head with management of gift operations. Responsible for the receipt, verification, and gift acknowledgement.
  • Assists Department Head with management of collection development operations.

Electronic Resources Unit

The Electronic Resources unit is responsible for acquiring and providing access to all electronic materials.

Athena Hoeppner, Electronic Resources Librarian

  • Supervisor of Electronic Resources unit.
  • She coordinates the acquisitions, review and de-selection of electronic content.
  • Local administrator for SFX, EZproxy, and Verde.
  • Primary web editor for database.
  • Liaison with Cataloging, Reference and other departments who use or make e-content accessible.

Jamie LaMoreaux, Library Specialist

  • Works with SFX including: checking online database access, correcting thresholds and turning on or off targets.
  • Electronic resources invoices, yearly statistics and keeping track of electronic costs and vendor information.
  • Works directly with vendors on the handling of licenses.
  • Helps with special projects as assigned by Athena.

Serials Unit

The serials unit is responsible for the processing of all incoming journals/periodicals, government documents and microforms. This includes ordering, receiving and certifying items for payment.

Joseph Bizon, Library Technical Assistant Supervisor

  • Supervisor of Serials unit.
  • Renews and updates subscriptions on all serials including periodicals, microforms, and standing orders.
  • Receives and processes invoices for payment.
  • Handles training for staff and student assistants.
  • Works on outstanding problems.

Katie Kirwan, Senior Library Technical Assistant

  • Handles all aspects of binding process, including journals/periodicals.
  • Receives and processes invoices for payment.
  • Assists Electronic Resources Unit.

Susan MacDuffee, Senior Library Technical Assistant

  • Receiving and processing of government documents and microform.
  • Receiving and processing of all journal materials.
  • Creates prediction patterns.
  • Assists with Electronic Resources Unit.

Tatyana Leonova, Senior Library Technical Assistant

  • Receiving and processing of standing orders and reference materials.
  • Handles claiming and creates prediction patterns.
  • Assists with check-in of journals.

Acquisitions Unit

Acquisitions unit is responsible for processing all incoming requests for purchasing of materials. This includes per-order searching, ordering, and receiving for print and non-print monographs and certifies items for payment.

Tina Candela, Library Technical Assistant Supervisor

  • Supervisor of Firm Order Unit.
  • Orders, receives, and processes invoices for monographic orders.
  • Handles all special orders.
  • Works with new and rare book vendors.
  • Resolves problems between library, publishers and vendors.

Elena Beredo, Senior Library Technical Assistant

  • Independently maintains the approval books.
  • Handles orders and verifies shipments.
  • Certifies items for payment and handles damages and publication discrepancies.
