Audiovisual Materials:
- DBC/UCF Joint-Use Library: Some videos check out for one week. Videos on reserve
can be requested at the Circulation Desk and are viewed in the library.
- UCF Library-Orlando campus: Media materials and equipment are located on the third
floor.
Borrowing Materials:
- DBC/UCF Joint-Use Library: You need a UCF ID card, and one other source of identification
that lists your current address (i.e., Florida drivers license) to check out materials
from the Joint-Use Library. You may borrow up to 20 items at a time (5 per topic) for
a period of 4 weeks. You may renew items one time. Fines for overdue materials are $0.25
per day per item. For lost items, you will be billed for the cost of replacement plus
a $10.00 processing fee.
- UCF Library - Orlando Campus: You need a UCF ID card to check out materials from
the library. There is no limit on the number of books you can check out. Undergraduates
may borrow items for 3 weeks; graduate students may borrow items for 8 weeks. You may
use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to request materials that are available at the UCF Library
in Orlando and have them delivered to the DBC/UCF Joint-Use Library. You may renew items
if no hold has been placed on them. Fines for overdue materials are $0.25 per day. For
lost or damaged items, you will be billed replacement cost. Items borrowed from the
UCF library can be renewed in Orlando or online. You may return items at the DBC/UCF
Joint-Use Library or in Orlando.

Computer Applications:
- DBC/UCF Joint-Use Library: UCF students have access to a variety of computer software
packages, such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SPSS, as well as the
Internet and e-mail at the UCF computers on the third level of the library.
Information Resources:
- UCF's catalog can be searched on the Internet. Databases
that index and provide access to full text journal, magazine and newspaper articles
are also provided. There are 5 UCF workstations available at the Daytona library that
may be used to access databases and other library resources. Databases may be accessed
off-campus using EZProxy.
- LINCC
is the library catalog for Florida community colleges. It identifies the books and
journals available in the DBC libraries, and can be accessed from the
DBCC’s library's web page.
Interlibrary Loan:
- You may borrow items from other libraries by filling out the
UCF Interlibrary Loan (ILL) form available on the
Internet. You also need to fill out the ILL form to borrow items from other UCF libraries.
Be sure to have items sent to the DBC Joint-Use Library.

Library Instruction:
- DBC/UCF Joint-Use Library: The UCF Librarian conducts general and subject-specific
library instruction classes. Individual, one-to-one sessions can also be requested.
Call 506-3353 for details and to schedule classes and research assistance.
Printing/Copying:
- DBC/UCF Joint-Use Library: Print services are available throughout the library.
Photocopies cost $.15 cents each (cash) or $.10 cents each with a DBC print card. A
DBCC print card must be used to print in the Computer Commons. A DBCC print card can
be purchased ($1.00) in the Computer Commons. A UCF print card must be used
to print at the UCF computers on the third level. Students can get their first
UCF print card free at the UCF Computer Lab (140-204).
- UCF Library - Orlando Campus: Photocopy machines are located on every floor. Photocopies
are 10 cents per page. Black and white printing (from PCs) cost 10 cents per page and
a UCFCard or Visitor Smart card must be used. Your UCFCard can also be used with the
photocopy machines. There is also a color photocopier and printer available.
Off-Campus Access:
- Most proprietary databases can be accessed from off-campus sites using EZProxy and
require only an activated UCF ID card and library number.
- The UCF library number may be activated by: 1) checking out materials, 2) visiting
or calling the circulation desk at the UCF library, 3) using the
activation request form.

Reserve Materials:
- DBC/UCF Joint-Use Library: Items on reserve can be requested at the Circulation
Desk. Request an item by course name, number, or professor. Most materials circulate
for 2 hours. If you return a reserve item late, you will be billed $1.00 per day.
- UCF Library-Orlando campus: Most reserve materials circulate for two (2) hours.
Fines for Reserve items are billed at a rate of $0.25 per hour.
Scanner:
- One self-service scanner is available in the Computer Commons.
