Audiovisual Materials:

  • BCC/UCF Joint-Use Library-Cocoa: Many videos check out for one week. Videos on reserve can be requested at the Circulation Desk and usually must be viewed in the library.
  • BCC/UCF Palm Bay Library: Many videos check out for one week. Videos on reserve can be requested at the Circulation Desk and usually must be viewed in the library.
  • UCF Library-Orlando campus: Media materials and equipment are located on the third floor.

Borrowing Materials:

  • BCC/UCF Joint-Use Library-Cocoa and the BCC/UCF Palm Bay Library: You must have a BCC library card to borrow any items. To obtain a library card, take your UCF ID to the Circulation Desk. You may borrow up to 10 items at a time for a period of 3 weeks. You may renew items 1 time. Fines for overdue materials are $0.25 per day per item. For lost items, you will be billed for the cost of replacement plus a $7.50 processing fee.

Computer Applications:

  • BCC/UCF Joint-Use Library-Cocoa: Public access to a variety of computer software packages, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and AutoCAD, as well as the Internet and e-mail are provided in the InfoLab on the first floor. You must present a library card at the InfoLab Desk (also on the first floor). You may purchase a formatted disk at the Circulation Desk for $1.00. A wireless laptop is available for checkout within the library.
  • BCC/UCF Palm Bay Library: Public access to a variety of computer software packages, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, as well as the Internet and email are provided. The open computer lab in Building 2 is available for use by UCF students. Wireless laptops are available for checkout within the library.

Information Resources:

  • LINCC Search is the library catalog for Florida community colleges. It identifies the books and journals available in BCC libraries.
  • The UCF Library Catalog can be searched on the Internet. Databases that index and provide access to full-text journal articles are also provided. Most databases are available from off-campus locations.

Interlibrary Loan:

  • You may borrow items from other libraries by filling out the UCF Interlibrary Loan (ILL) form available on the Internet. You also need to fill out the ILL form to borrow items from the UCF Library in Orlando from a BCC location. Be sure to indicate where you want the material sent. Use LINCCSearch to request a book from another BCC location.

Library Instruction:

  • BCC/UCF Joint-Use Library-Cocoa and the BCC/UCF Palm Bay Library: UCF Librarians conduct general and subject-specific library instruction classes. Individual, one-on-one (PERC-UP) sessions can also be requested. Please call 321-433-7879 for details.

Printing/Copying:

  • BCC/UCF Joint-Use Library-Cocoa: A photocopy machine is located on the first floor of the library. Photocopies are 15 cents per page. Black and white printing from UCF PCs cost 10 cents per page and a UCF Print Card is required.
  • BCC/UCF Palm Bay Library: Photocopies are 15 cents per page. Black and white printing from UCF PCs cost 10 cents per page and a UCF Print Card is required.

Remote Access:

  • Most proprietary databases that can be accessed from your home or office only require an activated UCF ID card -- you simply type in your Library ID number. The UCF library number can be activated by: 1) checking out materials, 2) visiting the circulation desk at a UCF library, 3) calling the Joint-Use Library in Cocoa (433-7250), or 4) using the Library ID activation request form. Other databases require you to configure your PC as a VPN. For more information, go to the UCF Library Distance Services webpage. If you need help, contact the UCF Techrangers.

Reserve Materials:

  • BCC/UCF Joint-Use Library-Cocoa and the BCC/UCF Palm Bay Library: Items on reserve can be requested at the Circulation Desk. Request an item by course name, number, or professor. Loan periods vary and usually depend on the faculty member. If you return a Reserve item late, you will be billed $1.00 per day. .

Scanning:

  • BCC/UCF Joint-Use Library-Cocoa: Self-service scanners are available in the InfoLab
  • BCC/UCF Palm Bay Library: Self-service scanning to a floppy disk is available in the Library and the Open Computer Lab in Building 2.
