Joint-Use Libraries at Cocoa and Palm Bay

Off-Campus Access

There are several options for accessing UCF databases form your home or office...

Use your activated UCF ID card and Library Number which provides access to MANY databases...

You must already have an Internet provider and access to the World Wide Web.

You will be asked to enter your 14-digit Library Number (which begins with 22103) before using each database.

Get a UCF ID card in Room 151 of the Clark Maxwell, Jr. Lifelong Learning Center, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Personnel at the Circulation Desk in the Joint Use Library can activate your card one week later or call them at (321) 433-7250.

...Or set up a Proxy...

You must already have an Internet provider and access to the World Wide Web.

Detailed instructions are provided from UCF's Ask-A-Librarian web page. Instructions vary depending on your web browser.

You will need to key in your Library number before gaining access to a database.

If you are asked for a password, try "ucf."

This Proxy provides access to more databases (e.g., Web of Science).

...Or establish a Pegasus account...

A Pegasus account provides you with FREE Internet access and email. You dial into a local Brevard telephone number which then provides access to all of UCF's Internet-based databases. You will not need to input your 14-digit Library number each time.

If you are an experienced user, follow the instructions provided at http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/~help/handout. Call Sue Sorensen at (321) 433-7971 if you have problems.

Or, obtain The Pegasus Connections disc at orientation (also available at the Library Reference Desk.) The Pegasus CD provides Internet programs (Netscape Communicator, Adobe Acrobat, Apple QuickTime, etc.) and tutorials for using software and web pages.
