  • UCF Library Retirements

    Carla Summers Deb Ebster
    Carla Summers Deb Ebster

Two dear friends and faculty members of the University of Central Florida Libraries have decided to retire after many years of wonderful service to the University community.  These extraordinary leaders have served as key components in the continued growth of our organization.

Carla M. Summers, University Librarian and Head, Department of Special Collections and University Archives, will retire from the University of Central Florida Libraries at the end of June.  She has worked in Florida as an archivist, manuscripts librarian, and administrator for 30 years, first with the State Archives of Florida and then the University of Florida.  She was the founding president of the Society of Florida Archivists, served two terms as treasurer of the Academy of Certified Archivists, and is currently on the Council of the Society of American Archivists.  She will continue her service on the Council and as well as her archives, special collections, and records management consulting practice.  While at UCF she did consulting for the Florida Baptist Convention, Atlanta University Center, Center for Applied Psychological Type (CAPT), Maitland Historical Society, Citrus County Historical Division and Charlotte County Archives and Museum.

Deb Ebster, Associate University Librarian and Head, Universal Orlando Foundation Library at Rosen, will also retire in the month of June.  Deb started her career at the Rock Valley College Library in Rockford, IL as a Public Services Librarian and Coordinator of Instruction.  After 28 years at Rock Valley College, she decided to take her librarianship skills to the next level in a different environment.  As a Public Services Librarian at the College of the Bahamas in Nassau, she acquired the knowledge and skills in hospitality management and tourism that would later benefit her as she became part of our UCF Libraries family.  Deb has been the guiding light in the development of our Rosen branch library.  Her leadership and expertise have helped cultivate a rich foundation that will serve as a model for future library projects while we continue to support the students at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management.

We will truly miss these two great leaders and friends, and we wish them all the best as they continue towards the next chapter in their life.

    The New UCF Knights!

    Knight 4 Ever

The University of Central Florida family is taking a whole new look!  On June 14th all UCF students and alumni will be known as Knights.  We invite you to join the UCF family at the main campus bookstore in this historic moment, and at the same time come visit us at the UCF Main Library.

You can also leave your legacy with us here at the UCF Libraries for future UCF Knights to honor and enjoy.  Planned and memorial gifts are always a great option as well as donating for the purchase of particular items for the development of our library collection.  Cash donations can also be made by going to the Online Giving page and completing the form.

If you would like more information concerning donations to the UCF Libraries, please contact the office of Library Development and Dwain Teague at 407-823-5982.

    GO KNIGHTS!
