Overview

The Collection

The University Libraries has a collection of over 2.4 million volumes, including 624,000 e-books.  Serials subscriptions total 43,000, of which 40,500 are in electronic format.  The Library owns approximately 3.1 million microforms, and 51,500 media titles in various formats.  UCF is a partial depository for both United States and Florida government publications.

Hours

The main library is open approximately 105 hours per week including evenings and weekends.

Computers and Technology

Over 400 computer workstations are available for public use on the five floors of the library, including 40+ laptops with wireless cards that can be checked out for use anywhere in the building.  Patrons can bring their own laptops and wireless cards to connect to the library’s Internet.  There are eight pay-for-print stations.  Students can print from any floor and release their prints at any station.  The main library also has two classrooms outfitted with 42 computer workstations for hands-on instruction in the use of electronic resources.

The Libraries' Web-based catalog, Aleph, can be accessed from any computer on the Internet. The Libraries also provides access to hundreds of electronic databases, the catalogs of other Florida university system libraries, and the community college system libraries.

Services

Reference Desk provides help and advice in the use of the library, materials, and online sources during most library hours. The Ask A Librarian service offers research assistance via live chat, e-mail or telephone (407-823-2562 or 866-271-7589).

The library provides special services for people with disabilities. Disabled students may call the library at 407-823-2580 to request that specific books be retrieved and held for them at the Circulation Desk. A large screen monitor with JAWS/ZoomText software is located near the Information and Research Center.
